The Joy Fund Charity Bowl Football Game started in 1968 and was played in
With little cost for jerseys, player awards or facility fees, 100% of the funds are donated to The Virginian-Pilot Joy Fund. For many years the Charity Bowl was the largest contributor to The Joy Fund. The Joy Fund provides toys to underprivileged children in Hampton Roads and is sponsored by The Virginian-Pilot.
This is a tackle game played by former local high school players. Southeastern District (
The referees, many with 30 plus years of service with the Charity Bowl, buy tickets and donate their efforts.
Sponsors are needed. We need jerseys for each team. Cheerleaders and a Band are also needed.
On Christmas morning anyone who participates in the Charity Bowl can have an even more blessed day, knowing that their efforts have provided Christmas presents for children who would not otherwise have a Christmas.
